Overview
All HYBRID+ derivatives operate using the same basic
architecture. A technological solution that is ideal for Urban,
Multidrop, and City drive cycles.
An electric motor/generator stores electrical energy in a super
capacitor during coasting or braking and then uses this electrical
energy to assist the diesel engine under acceleration, thus
reducing fuel used.
The motor provides circa 30NM of additional torque from idle,
the Connaught system is unique in maximising the available savings
by multiplying this available power through a Continuously Variable
Transmission (CVT) by a ratio of 3:1. This means that as the
vehicle pulls away from a standing start there is 90NM of
additional torque available at the wheels, using less diesel and
encouraging the use of lower engine revs also reducing diesel
consumption.
Under braking, rather than fully engaging the wheel brakes, the
CVT Hybrid system acts as an engine brake slowing the vehicle
whilst recharging the electrical system.
The energy to be recouped is then ready for use under the next
acceleration. This is commonly referred to as Kinetic Energy
Recovery KERS.
HYBRID+ is compatible with ECO-DRIVE and AERO+ products to
further enhance savings.
