Automotive innovation meets
progressive environmental thinking

The face of automotive engineering is changing fast. What were considered off-the-wall ideas only years ago are fast entering the mainstream. Scarce resources, global warming and congestion are all driving a new era in motoring.

At Connaught Engineering, we realised from the beginning that the general motor industry view of the near future had to change. There would always be a demand for fast, powerful, dynamic cars but these would have to achieve their performance with greatly reduced CO2 emissions and much improved fuel efficiency.

We applied our research, development and design expertise to various hybrid systems; we examined weight reduction in terms of choice of materials, construction techniques and, more importantly, the weight of battery packs associated with existing hybrid technologies.

In short, we developed the engineering know how to bring to market our HYBRID+ system which is applicable to all internal combustion engines. The Connaught Type-D, developed by Connaught Motor Co. Ltd, has been developed to show case the system in the world's first hybrid sports coupe.

Give your fleet the HYBRID+ advantage

A major advantage of the Connaught HYBRID+ system is that it may be applied to any vehicle as a retro-fit to existing vehicles. In most cases there is no change to the basic vehicle package, since the 48V Electric Motor is compact, and no large battery packs are required. It is simply bolt on and go and fitted within a day.

This makes HYBRID+ ideal for light commercial vehicles.
The savings, even for a small fleet, can be quite substantial.

HYBRID+ The benefits of hybrid technology and more

Connaught’s patented HYBRID+ technology is a unique, cost effective system, available today, which provides major benefits for all users and operators without the engineering complications, weight penalties and environmental down-sides of the conventional battery pack hybrid systems.

  • The result is a system that:
  • Can be simply retro-fitted to existing vehicles
  • Uses compact supercapacitors rather than large batteries. These are smaller and lighter and do not, like batteries, have environmental problems when they are ultimately disposed of
  • Makes full use of regenerative braking technology to reduce emissions
  • Operates at a safe 48 Volts
  • Prices start from £2750 + VAT (fitted) depending on installation
  • No change to vehicle style or structure subject only to available packaging space for the 48 Volt Electric Motor location
  • All figures quoted are subject to drive cycles
